Lithuania tightened rules for import of cash across border with Belarus

Starting from 2024, fines for the import of incorrectly declared cash will be increased in Lithuania, "Sobiray Rukzak" reported. Let us remind you that Lithuania canceled the emergency regime on the border with Belarus.

Amendments to the Code of Administrative Offences and the Law on Tax Administration of Lithuania have been introduced to increase fines for the transportation of incorrectly declared cash through the Belarusian-Lithuanian, as well as Lithuanian-Russian borders.

The penalty for the first violation will be from 390 to 1.2 thousand euros, and for repeated violations will be up to 3.9 thousand euros. In addition, illegally imported amounts will be confiscated at the border.

Recall that persons entering or leaving the territory of Lithuania and carrying an amount of 10 thousand euros in cash must necessarily declare it when passing customs control.
