New edition of the Red Book is being prepared in Belarus

Scientists have started monitoring the number of animals in order to decide by 2025 who to exclude from the list of endangered and in need of protection species, Sputnik reported.

The main intrigue of the new edition of the Red Book of Belarus 2025 may be a brown bear, which the Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen insists on excluding.

However, the Ministry of Natural Resources reported that the bear population is not stable, and therefore the species remains under protection, hunting for brown bears will be prohibited further. The same position remains with regard to lynx and badger, which are proposed to be excluded from the new edition of the Red Book.
