More than 70% of HIV cases occur in Gomel and Minsk regions, as well as in Minsk. Over the past 10 years, the largest number of new HIV infection cases has been registered in the 35-49 age group. About 80% of cases of infection occur sexually.
Belarus is pursuing an active policy in the field of countering the spread of HIV. HIV testing can be done not only in a healthcare institution, but also at home independently by buying a test at a pharmacy. Also, consultation on the disease is free of charge.
