Process of Belarus' accession to SCO proceeds

A summit of foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is being held in India, where the Indian Foreign Minister spoke about the progress in the process of Belarus' admission to the organization, Sputnik reported.

The Indian Foreign Minister noted the progress in the ongoing process of admission of Iran and Belarus to full members of the SCO.

Belarus has been a dialogue partner of the SCO since 2010. Five years later, the country received observer status.

In 2021, Belarus announced that it was ready to join the SCO as a full participant. In 2022, the procedure for admission of the republic to membership in the organization was started.

Belarus plans to join the scientific agreement with SCO.
