Reasons for the price increase in Belarus
Prices in Belarus are rising, and one of the reasons for this is inflation in the partner countries. According to the Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, inflationary processes in other countries seriously affect Belarus, Sputnik reported.
Logistics costs have increased fivefold. Jumps in the exchange rate of the Russian ruble, euro and dollar also affected. Now 75-80% of the final retail price now depends on the manufacturers: both Belarusian and foreign. The prices of goods are rising mainly in production.
Not all these factors can be compensated only by increasing the price. As the minister noted, it is necessary to reduce the cost of importing products. We also need to come up with a fair system for the distribution of benefit.
In September, annual inflation slowed by 0.5% and amounted to 17.4%. Food prices in September increased by 18.3% relative to prices in autumn 2021.
Let us remind you that a price moratorium is currently in effect in Belarus. The government has fixed prices as of October 5. They can be raised only with the permission of government agencies. This applies to trade, services, and production. The exception is made only for Duty Free stores.
