The government imposed a moratorium on price increases
At a meeting with ministers on October 6, the president forbade raising prices for all goods in Belarus. On the same day, the government imposed a moratorium on retail price increases, Sputnik reports.
The resolution was signed by the Prime Minister of Belarus. "Since October 6, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs engaged in the production and (or) sale of goods, as well as providing services on the territory of Belarus, will not be able to raise prices. This applies to all types of goods and services," the presidential press service reports.
Prices can be increased only by the decision of certain state bodies, but only if it is economically feasible
The same authorities and the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade will monitor the saturation of the Belarusian market with goods. They are also granted the right to stop the operation of shops and licenses in case of violation of the moratorium.
