The volume of venture investments in Belarus fell

In the first half of 2022, the volume of venture investments in Belarus fell by 64% compared to the same period in 2021. Now the market totals $3.1 million, devby.io reported. However, Belarus ranked 25th in the world in terms of the prevalence of cryptocurrencies.

The authors of the study associate the dynamics of the market decline with Minsk's support of Russia's policy, as well as being cut off from global venture capital. In fact, the only source of venture investments in Belarus remains the Russian-Belarusian fund RBF Ventures, which has not made a single transaction in the first half of the year, the study says.

Recently, S&P confirmed the long-term foreign currency rating of Belarus at the level of "selective default".
