UN Refugee Division is ready to expand cooperation with Belarus

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi met with the Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Office. During the meeting, the commissioner expressed readiness to expand cooperation with Belarus, BelTA reported.

The participants of the meeting discussed the directions of development of cooperation in the context of the refugee crisis in Europe and a significant increase in the number of requests for refugee status in Belarus.

In turn, Filippo Grandi confirmed the readiness of the UN Refugee Department to expand cooperation with Belarus.

The new law on Belarusian citizenship comes into force in July 2023.
