A woman can become the first astronaut of Belarus

According to the Head of the Presidium of the Belarus' National Academy of Sciences, the first astronaut of the country is likely to be a woman. The understudy will also be a woman, BelTA reported.

May we remind you that the Belarusian astronaut will fly to the ISS as part of the Russian team in 2023.

The Head of the Presidium noted that a group of applicants will be selected for medical examination in the coming days. Now a preliminary group of 20 people has been selected. In Russia, they will undergo a thorough medical examination. Then the cosmonauts will be prepared.

It is also planned that the construction of the Belarusian-Russian satellite will begin in 2023.
