Belarus' gold and foreign exchange reserves decreased by 4.5% in May
According to preliminary data, Belarus' international reserve assets amounted to $7.4 billion in equivalent as of June 1, 2022, BELTA writes. In May, gold and foreign exchange reserves decreased by 4.5% ($351 million). In April, the growth was 2.5%.
"The decrease in the indicator of international reserve assets by the end of May is mainly due to the planned repayment by the government of external and internal liabilities in foreign currency in the amount of about $135 million. In addition, the revaluation of monetary gold and foreign currency had a negative impact on the level of international reserves," the National Bank of Belarus reported.
We remind you that in June several Belarusian banks resumed issuing loans for real estate.
