Forecast for the economy of Belarus

Experts of the Eurasian Development Bank believe that the Belarusian economy will continue to fall by about 4.5-5%, as adaptation to the new sanctions conditions is proceeding gradually, Sputnik reported. Recently we wrote that the Russian authorities want to support Belarus and increase the purchase of Belarusian fuel.

According to forecasts, Belarus' GDP will decrease by 6.5% by the end of 2022.  In the first six months, the drop occurred by 5%. The EDB noted that, in general, the recession in the economy began to slow down, and it is assumed that the Belarusian economy has begun to adapt to the sanctions. However, stocks in warehouses are starting to grow, domestic demand remains weak, investments have fallen, and retail turnover has decreased.

Experts predict that in July-August, inflation may rise to 18%. A decrease in investment in the first half of the year was noted in almost all industries.

According to the report, the peak of the drop in Belarusian exports fell in April. However, the sector has started to recover. In general, the supply of Belarusian goods abroad is supported by the fact that the Belarusian ruble has weakened against the Russian one.
