New price regulation from October 19
At a meeting with ministers on October 6, the president forbade raising prices for all goods in Belarus. On the same day, the government imposed a moratorium on retail price increases. A new law on price regulation was adopted on October 19, Sputnik reported.
The resolution affected more than 90% of the goods purchased by the population. The document does not regulate the prices of tobacco, alcohol, medicines and fuel. Services are also not affected.
The decree lists 370 types of goods from food and clothing to cars and various equipment.
Marginal surcharges are being introduced for importers and domestic trade. They range from 15% to 60% depending on the product.
The increase in selling prices must be coordinated with government agencies. But at the same time, sellers can return higher prices if the promotion has ended.
