Private schools and kindergartens will need to pass state accreditation

In Belarus, from September, all private institutions of general education will have to undergo state accreditation. Bill on licensing their activities is also being considered, Minsk-News writes.

The Minister of Education said that 35 private schools are registered in Minsk. However, only 13 schools have passed the accreditation, which gives the right to issue state education documents to graduates.

From September, the accreditation of private schools in the first year of their work will become mandatory. Thus, the Ministry of Education will be able to understand whether students understand materials of disciplines and whether schools provide a sufficient level of knowledge.

The Minister advised parents to check whether the curriculum is being implemented when registering a child in a private kindergarten or school. And ask about the qualifications of teachers, catering and medical care for children.

The draft law "On licensing of all private schools and kindergartens" is under consideration by parliamentarians and is aimed at excluding from the educational process those "who pursue exclusively commercial goals to the detriment of the state and the individual." Deputies will consider the draft law in the second reading at the autumn session.

In July, Belarusian school studentas won at international Olympiads on Geography and Geology.
